About The Franklin Food Pantry

The Franklin Food Pantry is a 501 (c) 3 Nonprofit established in 1996. With the help of the City of Franklin, Local Churches, and Individual and Corporate Donations, we were able to construct a new facility in 2017. The new facility is in a highly visible location just South of the Railroad Tracks that run adjacent to US 79 in Franklin.

The individuals who have been instrumental in the past establishment and continuation of the Franklin Food Pantry include Rose Johnson, Ken Robison,  Steve and Shellie Lyon, Ferman and Denver Richards, Margaret Vanderford, Lynn Braswell, Melanie Green, Vicky Tepera, and Jerry, Cheryl, and Melanie Redden.

The funding for the Food Pantry comes from local churches, as well as individual and Corporate Donations. The Food Pantry is governed by a Board of Directors that meets quarterly and is made up of members of the supporting local churches. The operations of the Food Pantry are managed by local volunteers, supervised by a Volunteer Director of Operations and an Assistant Director of Operations, along with Committees for specific functions such as Building Maintenance, Communication,  Outreach, Deliveries, and Fundraising. Clients eligible to be served include anyone who meets the financial guidelines established by the State and has an address within the limits of Franklin ISD.

We deliver groceries to clients who are not able to come to the Pantry. We serve approximately 175 families each month.  Each family is given enough groceries to supplement their monthly needs. Most of the products we give out are either purchased at a reduced cost from the Regional Food Bank in Bryan or purchased with Food Pantry funds from major grocery stores like Sam's and the locally owned Grocery Store in Franklin.

The Food Pantry has several initiatives that include planning for our 30th anniversary, a Scholarship Fund in honor of our founding past Director (The Ferman Richards Scholarship Fund), A Youth Advisory Board, a "money jug"  fundraiser at the local elementary school, a "Youth Volunteer Training Program",  participation in the annual Brazos Valley Food Bank "Food for Families" program, and communications through our Facebook Page (Robertson County Care Inc.) and  our website (FranklinFoodPantryTX.com)
